Fans of the 2014 cult classic Queen have reason to celebrate, but they might need to adjust their expectations regarding the title. Latest reports suggest that the highly anticipated sequel starring Kangana Ranaut has officially moved away from the predictable moniker of Queen 2.

Instead, the makers are reportedly finalizing the title “Queen Forever”, a name they believe better captures the enduring spirit of the protagonist’s journey.

Unlike a traditional sequel that picks up exactly where the last one left off, Queen Forever is expected to be a thematic successor. While the original film followed Rani, a shy girl from Rajouri Garden, as she navigated a solo honeymoon in Paris and Amsterdam, the new installment reimagines her as a sophisticated city girl.

Despite her newfound “smart and quirky” urban persona, a pivotal plot point will once again push her toward a path of self-discovery—this time, across various metro cities in India.

The production is also seeing a significant overhaul in its ensemble. Apart from Kangana Ranaut, none of the original cast members are expected to return. Director Vikas Bahl is reportedly looking to cast fresh faces, with a particular focus on theatre artists to fill key supporting roles. This shift aims to bring a grounded and authentic feel to the new narrative, which focuses on Rani conquering life through individuality and courage.

Filming is slated to begin shortly in a Mumbai studio, where elaborate sets reflecting North Indian urban life are being constructed. Following the Mumbai schedule, the team will embark on a three-month start-to-finish marathon across India. As Rani trades the Eiffel Tower for the vibrant streets of Indian metros, Queen Forever looks to redefine the themes of independence that made the first film a national phenomenon.
