Kanhaiya Lal’s Son Reveals Poignant Tribute as ‘Udaipur Files’ Finally Hits Theatres

The film, which faced censorship delays, seeks to tell the ‘truth’ about the brutal 2022 murder and raise awareness about terrorism, with the family appealing to the nation to watch their story.

August 8 in Udaipur, Rajasthan: The movie “Udaipur Files” eventually came out across all of India on Friday, after going through a lot of problems, such censorship delays.

Vijay Raaz stars in the movie, which is based on the shocking death of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur in 2022.

Kanhaiya Lal’s family has been closely following the film’s premiere and has been quite vocal about their support for it.

Yash Sahu, his son, talked to ANI about what the movie meant to the family. He said the movie isn’t against any “religion or community,” but it does want to “show the truth” and “raise awareness” about terrorism.

“I ask the people of the country to watch the movie and learn about what happened to my father on June 28 and how terrorism is growing in the country. Sahu said, “This does not go against any religion or hurt the feelings of any group.”

He said that his mother would not be able to watch the movie since she was still upset. However, there would be a “reserved” seat in the theater for his father’s soul, along with a picture of him.

He said, “My mom couldn’t see the movie, but there would be a seat for my dad’s soul in the theater, and his picture would be on it.”

The movie is based on the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in 2022. Two men killed him in broad daylight because they were angry about a social media post that supported former BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma. The event caused uproar across the country and generated serious concerns about radicalization and violence across communities.
