Kannappa Box Office Day 4: Big Loss of Revenue Due to Piracy, Manages to Earn only This Much on First Monday

After a decent opening weekend, Kannappa witnesses its lowest day yet; Vishnu Manchu urges fans to fight piracy as the film hits ₹25.90 crore total.

July 2, 2025: Kannappa, the mythological drama directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and headlined by Vishnu Manchu, saw a significant decline in collections on its first Monday, July 1. According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, the film managed to earn just ₹2.5 crore on Day 4 — its lowest so far.

Despite opening to mixed reviews, the film had a respectable start with ₹9.35 crore on Day 1 (Friday), followed by ₹7.15 crore on Saturday and ₹6.9 crore on Sunday. However, the weekday drop has brought its overall box office total to ₹25.90 crore.

Featuring a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, and Mohan Babu, the film is based on the legend of Kannappa — a revered devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu Manchu, who also co-wrote the film, has been actively promoting the project as a passion piece.

On Monday, Vishnu took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a disheartening update — Kannappa has been heavily impacted by piracy. “Over 30,000 illegal links have already been taken down,” he wrote. “Piracy is theft — plain and simple. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don’t encourage it. Support cinema the right way.”

The film’s VFX has also drawn criticism, with Vishnu admitting at a recent press conference that several scenes were cut because the visual quality didn’t meet expectations. “It’s a massive lesson for me, and one I’ll never repeat,” he said. “Thankfully, most people didn’t even notice.”

Backed by Mohan Babu, Kannappa also stars R Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, and Rahul Madhav, among others. With piracy threatening its box office prospects and word-of-mouth wavering, the film’s performance in the coming days will be critical for its long-term success.
