Rishab Shetty’s mythological action prequel sees a steady run post-second weekend, with its total domestic collection now standing at ₹485.40 crore, while the film continues to earn global acclaim for its cultural depth.
The mythological action drama Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, continues its impressive performance at the Indian box office, maintaining a strong run after a bumper opening. As the film completes 15 days in theaters, its remarkable domestic collection is now inching closer to the coveted ₹500 crore mark.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, the film’s total India net collection currently stands at ₹485.40 crore. While it has not yet crossed the ₹500 crore milestone domestically at the end of its second week, the film has already successfully surpassed this figure in its worldwide collection.
Box Office Trend: Post-Weekend Dip
Kantara: Chapter 1 enjoyed a spectacular second weekend, demonstrating strong audience loyalty by grossing ₹78.75 crore over the two days. However, the film experienced a predictable drop on the following weekdays. Collections for the second week are detailed as follows:
- Second Monday: ₹13.35 crore
- Second Wednesday: ₹10.5 crore
- Second Thursday (Day 15): ₹9 crore
The slight decline on its second Thursday indicates a settling of the initial frenzy but still represents a solid hold as the movie moves deeper into its theatrical run.
Dominating the 2025 Box Office
Rishab Shetty’s prequel has solidified its position as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of the year. The film has outperformed several major releases, including Saiyaara, Coolie, War 2, and Lokah Chapter 1, to become the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far.
Despite its phenomenal success, the film is currently trailing the top spot, which belongs to Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama, Chhaava. That film, which also featured Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna, set a high bar with an India net collection of ₹601.54 crore and a staggering worldwide gross of ₹807.91 crore, making it the highest-grosser of the year to date.
