‘Kantara Chapter 1’ Confirmed For October 2 Release, Makers Shut Down Delay Rumours

April 2, 2025: The highly anticipated prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara has officially been confirmed for release on October 2, 2025.

Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as Hombale Films has addressed and dismissed all rumors regarding the film’s potential delay. The production house took to its Instagram account to reassure audiences with a strong statement, clarifying that the legendary saga will unfold as scheduled.

The announcement came in response to a flurry of rumors circulating on social media, which had sparked concerns about the film’s release being postponed. However, with the official confirmation, fans can look forward to the prequel continuing the gripping narrative of Kantara, which captivated audiences across India.

Actor-director Rishab Shetty, who gained widespread acclaim for his role in Kantara, has been intensely preparing for his next role in the prequel. Shetty shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse on his Instagram, showcasing his dedication through a focused Kalaripayattu training session. His post, which captured the essence of his intense training regime, was accompanied by a heart emoji, reflecting his passion and commitment to the film.

Shetty’s performance in Kantara earned him the prestigious National Award for Best Actor, an achievement he humbly credited to his entire team. In an earlier statement, he expressed gratitude to his fans, especially the people of Karnataka, for their unwavering support. He also thanked the National Awards panel for recognizing the film, which not only brought him personal accolades but also earned Kantara the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment award.

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara follows the journey of Shetty’s character, a Kambala champion who locks horns with a determined Forest Range officer.
