‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ On Track For October 2025 Release, Confirms Makers Amid Speculation

May 22, 2025: Amid swirling rumours about a delay in the release of Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated film Kantara: Chapter 1, the makers have officially dismissed speculation, reaffirming the film’s worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2025.

In a statement shared on their official X account, the team wrote:

“We’re right on track, and everything is progressing as planned. #KantaraChapter1 will release in theatres worldwide on October 2, 2025. Trust us, it’ll be worth the wait. We kindly urge everyone to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified updates.”

The clarification follows a series of unfortunate incidents that cast a shadow over the film’s production. Earlier this month, junior artist MF Kapil tragically drowned while swimming in a river. The production house had promptly clarified that the incident did not occur during filming, stating:

“No filming was scheduled on that day, and the unfortunate event would have occurred during his personal engagement outside the scope of any film related activity.”

Soon after, the film industry mourned the sudden demise of actor Rakesh Poojary, who passed away due to a heart attack at just 34. Rishab Shetty took to social media to express his deep condolences, remembering the actor with heartfelt words.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, also helmed by Rishab Shetty, who returns as director and lead actor.
