September 22, 2025: Following the sensational success of his 2022 film Kantara, filmmaker and actor Rishab Shetty has unveiled the trailer for its highly anticipated prequel, Kantara: A Legend—Chapter 1. The trailer was launched on Monday by a lineup of major stars, including Hrithik Roshan, Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Sivakarthikeyan, signaling its status as a major pan-India release.

The two-minute-53-second trailer delves into the origins of the Daiva Kola tradition, a folklore element central to the first film. The narrative is set centuries ago and follows a young tribal warrior (played by Rishab Shetty) who takes on a tyrannical king (Gulshan Devaiah) to protect his people. The trailer culminates in a stunning visual of Rishab’s character seemingly becoming possessed by the divine spirit for the first time, a moment that has sent shivers down the spine of fans.

Produced by Hombale Films, the film is a huge jump in scale from its predecessor, reportedly made with a budget of ₹125 crore. The production involved a grand war sequence filmed over 50 days with 3,000 cast members. B. Ajaneesh Loknath returns as the music composer. Scheduled for a worldwide release on October 2, the film will be released in seven languages, including Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, and English.

The trailer’s launch has been met with a massive outpouring of praise on social media, with fans expressing goosebumps and high expectations for the film to become another box office monster.
