Kanye West Apologizes To Jay-Z Over Controversial Remarks About His Children

April 12, 2025: Kanye West has publicly apologized to longtime friend and fellow rapper Jay-Z after making controversial comments about his children, Rumi and Sir Carter, during a series of now-deleted social media posts.

In a post shared shortly after midnight, West wrote, “I’m sorry Jay Z,” expressing remorse over a March 2023 tweet in which he had questioned the intelligence of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s 7-year-old twins. The tweet caused widespread backlash, particularly from the Carter family and their supporters.

West added in his apology, “I be feeling bad about my tweet but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family but when I needed family on some real s–t none of these rap n—-s had my back.” The apology, while emotional, also revealed West’s ongoing frustration with the music industry and his relationships within it.

The backlash from the original tweet prompted Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, to respond subtly via Instagram with a humorous video that indirectly addressed West’s comments. Sharing a pun-filled joke, she smiled and said, “What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown.” Her lighthearted tone masked a deeper disapproval of the situation.

On the other hand, Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, took a firmer stance. Speaking to TMZ, he labeled West’s remarks as “stupid,” saying, “People pay a price for being stupid,” and called for West to seek the mental health support he may need.

This latest controversy comes amid ongoing public feuds involving West, including a recent flare-up with Taylor Swift. West accused the pop star of playing a role in his exclusion from performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. In a deleted tweet, he cited several reasons for being “blocked from the main stage,” including his infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people” statement, his 2009 VMA interruption of Swift, and his support for former President Donald Trump.

“How it feel to be the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time,” West wrote.

While Kanye’s apology to Jay-Z may be a step toward mending fences, it underscores a larger narrative of conflict, personal frustration, and strained relationships that have surrounded the artist in recent years. Whether the apology leads to reconciliation remains to be seen.
