February 9, 2025: Rapper Kanye West is making waves in the media once again with a series of controversial posts and demands. After his much-discussed appearance at the Grammys with his wife Bianca Censori, West has now turned his attention to music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently facing serious charges, including alleged sex trafficking and racketeering.
On Friday, West took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to demand that former US President Donald Trump intervene in freeing Combs, who is currently incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. West criticized Hollywood celebrities for their silence over Combs’ arrest, accusing them of abandoning him during a difficult time. In his post, West implored Trump to “PLEASE FREE MY BROTHER PUFF.”
Kanye also shared a video of a FaceTime conversation with Diddy’s son, Christian Combs. Alongside the video, he wrote a message reflecting on the impact of family separations, particularly within Black communities. He urged people to listen closely to Dave Chappelle’s jokes and consider how “funny it gets when families are separated, especially Black families.”
The rapper’s posts also reignited his ongoing feud with Diageo, the liquor company he has criticized in the past. West took aim at corporate leaders, particularly those in the Jewish and white communities, accusing them of controlling the music industry. In a defiant post, West wrote, “WHAT Y’ALL GONNA DO? CANCEL MY SNEAKER DEAL? CANCEL MY RECORD DEAL? FREEZE MY ACCOUNTS?”
Meanwhile, Combs remains in jail as he awaits his criminal trial, which is scheduled for May 5. If convicted, Combs could face a life sentence, with charges ranging from running a criminal enterprise to using violence and drugging victims to silence them.
Kanye’s outspoken comments and his call for support for Diddy have reignited discussions about the music industry and the power dynamics at play within it.
