Kanye West Drops Controversial Track Featuring North West & Diddy’s Son Amid Legal Battle
📍 Los Angeles, March 16: Kanye West has once again found himself in the spotlight, this time with the release of a new song titled “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine.” The track, shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, features Sean “Diddy” Combs, his son King Combs, Kanye’s daughter North West, and emerging Chicago artist Jasmine William.
The song is making headlines not just for its star-studded lineup but also for the ongoing legal dispute between Kanye and Kim Kardashian, who allegedly attempted to prevent North’s participation.
The track opens with what appears to be a recorded phone conversation between Kanye and Diddy, where the latter thanks Kanye for looking after his children amid his ongoing legal troubles.
🔊 Diddy’s voice in the recording:
“I wanna just thank you so much for just taking care of my kids, man. Ain’t nobody reach out to them, ain’t nobody call them.”
To which Kanye replies:
“Absolutely, I love you so much, man. You raised me. Even when I ain’t know you.”
The song continues with a verse from North West, who raps:
“Doing everything I wanted, that’s the key to life / When you see me shining, then you see the light.”
Following the song’s release, TMZ reported that Kanye shared—and later deleted—screenshots of a text exchange between himself and Kim Kardashian, where she allegedly attempted to block North’s involvement.
📩 Kim’s reported message to Kanye:
“I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her. One person has to trademark! I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18, it goes to her. So stop.”
🔥 Kanye’s response:
“Amend it or I’m going to war. And neither of us will recover from the public fallout. You’re going to have to kill me.”
The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Kardashian’s representatives for an official statement.
The song’s release comes at a time when Diddy is facing serious legal troubles. The music mogul was indicted in September 2024 on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty and is currently in jail awaiting trial, set to begin in May 2025.
Meanwhile, Kanye continues to court controversy with his anti-Semitic remarks, social media rants, and his decision to sell a T-shirt featuring a Nazi swastika—moves that have drawn widespread criticism.
Despite the uproar, Kanye has defended Diddy, stating that the hip-hop icon should be freed from prison, a stance that has further polarized public opinion.
With Kim Kardashian’s reported legal intervention, Diddy’s trial, and Kanye’s ongoing controversies, it remains to be seen whether “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine” will face a legal challenge or if it will continue making waves in the industry.
📢 Is Kanye reigniting old feuds for publicity, or is this a genuine push for creative freedom?
