July 20,2025: Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has expressed pride and support for his team as Kap’s Cafe, his recently launched restaurant in Surrey, Canada, reopens after a week-long closure due to a shooting incident.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Kapil shared a heartfelt note originally posted by the cafe’s official page, celebrating the reopening. “Proud of you team @thekapscafe ❤️,” he wrote, showing solidarity with the staff and management.

Kap’s Cafe Reopens to Public
The official message from Kap’s Cafe read, “Kap’s Cafe. Reopens tomorrow. We’ve missed you and are truly grateful for your continued love and support… ready to welcome you back with warmth, comfort, and care. See you soon, 8 am to 10 pm.”
Another post added, “The lights are on, the coffee’s warm, and our hearts are full.”
What Happened at Kap’s Cafe?
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 10, when multiple gunshots were fired outside the premises at around 1:50 am (local time). According to the Surrey Police Service, several staff members were inside at the time, but no injuries were reported.
Visuals from the aftermath showed at least 10 bullet holes in a front window and shattered glass at the site. The cafe is located in a mixed-use building that also houses residential units and other businesses.
Staff Call Incident ‘Heartbreaking’
Following the shooting, the team at Kap’s Cafe shared a moving message titled “A Message From the Heart.” It read:
“To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock, but we are not giving up. Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know.”
The note also thanked the Surrey Police and the wider local community for their support, assuring patrons that the cafe will remain a symbol of warmth, safety, and connection.
Community Support & Celebrity Backing
Despite being in its early days—the cafe opened earlier this month—Kap’s Cafe has already drawn local love and global attention, especially among fans of Kapil Sharma. The reopening is being seen not just as a business decision, but as a resilient stand against violence and fear.
