Kapoor family Poses Together For ‘Iconic’ Family Picture At The Opening Night Of Raj Kapoor Centenary Film Festival

December 14, 2024: Friday evening marked a memorable moment for cinephiles, as the long-awaited Raj Kapoor Centenary Film Festival kicked off in Mumbai, celebrating the legendary filmmaker’s 100th birth anniversary. The event was a tribute to one of Indian cinema’s greatest showmen, with his family coming together to honor his cinematic legacy.

The Kapoor family, known for their longstanding prominence in the Indian film industry, united at the opening night of the festival, posing for a family picture that captured the essence of their shared pride in Raj Kapoor’s achievements. The iconic image featured Randhir Kapoor, Rima Jain, Babita Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and grandchildren Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Their presence reflected the family’s collective effort to preserve and celebrate Raj Kapoor’s extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema.

Fans and attendees were thrilled to see the Kapoor Khandaan come together for this special occasion. Social media reactions were filled with admiration for the iconic family portrait, with fans commenting “iconic” and “priceless” on the pictures shared online.

Apart from the Kapoor family, several Bollywood personalities were present to pay their respects to Raj Kapoor, including Prem Chopra, Jeetendra, Vicky Kaushal, Riteish Deshmukh, Huma Qureshi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Sharman Joshi, among others. The event brought together stars from various generations, all united by their love for Raj Kapoor’s films.

The Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival, organized by R.K. Films, Film Heritage Foundation, and NFDC-National Film Archive of India, is a tribute to the filmmaker’s legacy. The festival will feature curated screenings of ten of his most iconic films, spread across 40 cities and 135 cinemas. The films being showcased include Raj Kapoor’s masterpieces, such as:

  • Barsaat (1949)
  • Awaara (1951)
  • Shree 420 (1955)
  • Jagte Raho (1956)
  • Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960)
  • Sangam (1964)
  • Mera Naam Joker (1970)
  • Bobby (1973)
  • Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985)

The festival, running from December 13 to December 15, aims to bring Raj Kapoor’s cinematic genius back into the spotlight for a new generation of movie lovers.

A few days before the festival, the Kapoor family had a significant meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, where they discussed the upcoming celebrations. During the meeting, Kareena Kapoor shared heartwarming pictures of the family with PM Modi. A particularly touching moment was when Kareena requested an autograph from the Prime Minister for her sons, Taimur and Jeh. Modi graciously signed “Tim and Jeh” on a piece of paper, much to the delight of fans.

Kareena shared her gratitude on social media, thanking the Prime Minister for the special afternoon. She wrote, “We are deeply humbled and honoured to have been invited by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor. Thank you Shri Modi ji for such a special afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in celebrating this milestone meant the world to us.”

As the Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival unfolds, fans and film industry professionals alike are celebrating the legacy of one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema history, who continues to inspire with his timeless stories of love, hope, and humanity.
