Punjabi music sensation Karan Aujla is set to return to Mumbai on April 12 with a special “fan appreciation” show titled Karan Aujla P-POP Culture India Tour – Mumbai 2.0. The announcement serves as a direct response to the heavy criticism and logistical issues that plagued his previous Holi-themed concert on March 3 at the MMRDA Grounds.
To make amends for the reported mismanagement, extreme heat, and safety concerns during the initial daytime event, organizers have confirmed that all fans who purchased tickets for the March 3 show will receive complimentary access to the new nighttime concert. The move aims to restore trust after attendees complained of fainting spells and lack of hydration at the original venue, which saw a massive turnout of nearly 15,000 people.
Organisers Address Backlash and Safety Concerns
Addressing the controversy, Mohit Bijlani, Co-Founder of Team Innovation, described the upcoming show as a gesture of gratitude. While acknowledging the audience feedback, the organizers also issued a clarification regarding the March 3 event. They maintained that the format and daytime timing were clearly communicated beforehand and that weather conditions were “natural factors beyond control.”
Siddhesh Kudtarkar, also a Co-Founder of Team Innovation, denied allegations of a stampede, stating that the venue operated within planned capacity. He further explained that complimentary water was not provided to prevent its use for non-consumption Holi activities, though water was available for purchase. Additionally, the lack of alcohol service was attributed to a state-wide directive rather than an event-specific failure, with lounge ticket holders receiving a 25% refund for the missing hospitality service.
Access Details for Ticket Holders
For those who attended the March 3 concert, the process for claiming the free show is streamlined:
- Automatic Delivery: New tickets will be sent to the original mobile number or email ID and will appear on the District by Zomato app.
- Category Adjustments: General and VIP holders will be moved to the Silver category, while Fan Zone holders will receive Gold access. P Pop Pit and King of Good Times Lounge holders will retain their premium status.
- Entry: Physical wristbands must be collected at the venue box office upon arrival.
While the concert is primarily for previous attendees, a limited number of fresh tickets are being released for new fans. Prices for new buyers range from ₹2,999 for Silver to ₹29,999 for the P Pop Pit. Attendees are advised to arrive between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM with a valid government ID.
