May 22, 2025: It was a proud and emotional moment for Indian cinema at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, as Janhvi Kapoor witnessed one of the biggest achievements of her career. Her film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was screened in the prestigious Un Certain Regard category — and received a thunderous 9-minute standing ovation from the audience.

Janhvi was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, as well as producer Karan Johar, who was seen getting visibly emotional following the heartwarming reception.
Among the audience cheering for Janhvi were her family members — father Boney Kapoor, sister Khushi Kapoor, and rumoured boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya. Boney Kapoor was moved to tears as he watched his daughter shine on a global platform, while Khushi Kapoor beamed with pride. Shikhar, standing beside Khushi, applauded loudly, showing his unwavering support.

Earlier, Janhvi had shared her excitement when Homebound was announced as an official Indian selection at Cannes. In a heartfelt Instagram note, she wrote:

We are honoured to announce that #Homebound makes its way to the official selection at the 78th edition of the Festival De Cannes in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category. Our hearts are full and we can’t wait to show you all this journey on the big screens!”
Shikhar Pahariya had also expressed his pride, resharing her post with the caption:
