Karan Johar Debunks Weight Loss Rumours: “No Medications, Just Hard Work and Health”

As Kesari Chapter 2 gears up for release, the filmmaker addresses speculation around his transformation, credits fitness and discipline over shortcuts

Mumbai, April 17: Filmmaker Karan Johar has finally addressed the swirling speculation around his recent dramatic weight loss, shutting down rumours about the use of weight-loss medication. During a live #AskKJo Instagram session on Thursday—just a day ahead of the release of Kesari Chapter 2—Johar opened up about his health journey.

“That’s a lot of work, and it’s not medication like the rumor suggests,” Johar clarified when asked about his leaner appearance.
“I want to tell you I am in the pink of health. I’ve never felt happier, lighter on my feet. I’ve lost my weight the right way,” he added.

Johar’s transformation has been a hot topic online, with many fans praising his new look while others speculated the use of drugs like Ozempic, which has been making headlines for aiding weight loss among celebrities. The rumour mill intensified after Maheep Kapoor, a close friend of Johar, took a public stand against weight-loss injections on Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.

However, Karan set the record straight, attributing his results to consistent workouts, clean eating, and lifestyle changes. He had previously discussed his health goals at the IIFA Awards in March, where he stated:

“It’s about being healthy, eating well, exercising, and just doing your best to look good.”

Kesari Chapter 2 Hits Theatres April 18

While fans are talking about his physical transformation, Karan Johar is just as excited about the release of his next production, Kesari Chapter 2. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R. Madhavan, and is slated for release on April 18.

The follow-up to 2019’s Kesari, which starred Parineeti Chopra and portrayed the heroism of 21 Sikh soldiers during the Battle of Saragarhi, the sequel aims to continue honoring India’s unsung heroes—this time expanding the narrative around freedom fighters and resistance movements.

With new energy and a refreshed outlook, both professionally and personally, Karan Johar seems ready to take on his next chapter—on screen and off it.
