Filmmaker and host Karan Johar may soon return with a new season of his popular celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan. According to reports, early discussions are underway, and the ninth season could premiere by the end of 2026 if plans move forward.
The show’s streaming partner JioHotstar has reportedly initiated talks for the next season. However, sources indicate that the deal is still in its early stages and not yet finalised.
Format Changes Likely
With changing audience preferences, the upcoming season may see several updates. Karan Johar is expected to tweak the format by shortening segments and making content more current and engaging. The guest lineup could also diversify, featuring not just Bollywood stars but also actors from South Indian cinema, OTT platforms, and digital creators.
A Legacy Show With Star Power
Since its debut in 2004, Koffee With Karan has completed eight successful seasons and over 150 episodes. The show is known for its candid conversations, rapid-fire rounds, and celebrity gossip, featuring top names like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh.
Johar himself has acknowledged that the show has shaped public perception of his personality, describing it as a space where he plays a witty and candid version of himself.
Season 9 Expectations
Previously, Johar hinted that the new season would return with a “new syntax,” suggesting a fresh approach after feedback on Season 8. If confirmed, Season 9 is expected to bring a revamped format while retaining the show’s signature entertainment value.
