Karan Johar Praises Mohan Bhagwat’s “Amazing Sense of Humour”

In a significant convergence of Bollywood and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), filmmaker Karan Johar lauded RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his wit and engaging persona. Speaking at the conclusion of the RSS’s 100th-anniversary celebrations in Mumbai on Sunday, February 8, 2026, Johar expressed that he was deeply “touched” by the dialogue.

The two-day event, titled ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey – New Horizons,’ held at the Nehru Centre Auditorium, saw an unprecedented turnout of A-list film personalities.

“We Laughed and Applauded”

Karan Johar, who attended the second day of the lecture series, was vocal about his positive experience:

  • The Interaction: “I would like to thank Mr. Bhagwat for his thoughts and words… I was touched by his words. I would also like to say that his sense of humour is amazing,” Johar told reporters.
  • The Atmosphere: The filmmaker noted that the RSS chief’s storytelling kept the audience engaged. “His sense of humour entertained us. We laughed a lot and applauded him. We are very thankful for this event.”
  • Future Dialogue: Johar expressed a desire for such interactions to become an annual occurrence to bridge the gap between the cultural and creative sectors.

A Star-Studded Gathering

The centenary celebrations marked a historic moment of outreach by the RSS toward the Hindi film industry.

  • Day 1 Attendees: Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor led the contingent on February 7, alongside filmmakers like Subhash Ghai, Nitesh Tiwari, and Om Raut.
  • Day 2 Attendees: Johar was joined by Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, and Ananya Panday.
  • Other Notable Guests: Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Rupali Ganguly were also seen in the audience, signaling a broad industry presence.

Mohan Bhagwat on National Policy

Beyond the lighter moments, the RSS chief addressed critical national issues during his keynote:

  • Infiltration and Census: Bhagwat emphasized that the government has begun the process of detecting and deporting illegal infiltrators.
  • Exclusion from SIR: He noted that as the Census or the Social Intelligence Register (SIR) progresses, non-citizens will be automatically identified and excluded from national processes.
  • Fashion Influence: In a viral moment, Bhagwat also commented on how modern trends are shifting, with fans even pointing out how stars like Salman Khan continue to influence youth fashion choices.
