‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Trailer Unites Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan for a Cross-Generational Martial Arts Showdown

Sony’s new chapter in the Karate Kid saga bridges the original and reboot timelines, bringing Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han together to mentor a new prodigy.

Los Angeles, April 1: The Karate Kid universe is about to get a powerful new chapter as Sony Pictures officially dropped the trailer for Karate Kid: Legends, an ambitious crossover that brings together Ralph Macchio’s iconic Daniel LaRusso from the 1984 original and Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han from the 2010 reboot starring Jaden Smith.

Unveiled just hours after Sony’s splashy CinemaCon presentation, the trailer teases an epic martial arts journey that unites different generations, philosophies, and fighting styles.

Set three years after the events of Cobra Kai’s final season, Legends follows Li Fong (played by Ben Wang), a gifted kung fu prodigy forced to relocate from Beijing to New York City with his mother after a personal tragedy. Struggling to adapt to his new environment and haunted by his past, Li avoids conflict — until trouble finds him again.

When a close friend needs his help, Li is pulled into a karate competition. But with his kung fu alone proving insufficient, his teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) turns to an old ally for guidance — none other than Daniel LaRusso (Macchio). The unlikely trio forges a new fighting style that blends East and West, kung fu and karate, past and future.

“Remember what you’re fighting for. When you understand that, you will be ready,” LaRusso tells Li in the trailer, setting the tone for an emotional and action-packed journey.

Directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F**ing World*) and written by Rob Lieber, the film is produced by Karen Rosenfelt, with Ralph Macchio and Jenny Hinkey serving as executive producers. The ensemble cast also includes Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, and Aramis Knight.

With nostalgia, legacy, and a fresh dose of high-octane action, Karate Kid: Legends is set to punch its way into theaters later this year — aiming to please longtime fans and introduce a new generation to the martial arts magic that made the franchise iconic.
