Kareena Kapoor Reflects on Gaining 25 Kgs After Jeh’s Birth, Embracing Her Body with Confidence

April 3, 2025 | At a recent book launch event in Mumbai, Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan spoke candidly about her journey with body image, weight gain after pregnancy, and the importance of self-belief.

Speaking at her longtime dietitian Rujuta Diwekar’s event, Kareena recalled her transformation post the birth of her second son, Jehangir Ali Khan (Jeh). “I had gained 25 kgs, and for a moment I panicked thinking ‘Oh my God, I have to go back and do this all over again.’ But that thought lasted for just a second because I still felt fab,” Kareena said with a smile.

The Crew actor also reflected on her popular line from Jab We Met, saying, “Main apni favourite hoon is how I live my life. Self-belief is everything. When you constantly tell yourself that you’re enough, others begin to believe it too — not that it matters what others think.”

Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar praised Kareena’s natural confidence, saying, “She’ll tell me things like, ‘I cannot even tell you how good I am looking,’ and ‘I am looking like a stick!’ That’s what I love about her.”

Kareena also opened up about her lifelong healthy relationship with food. “I’ve always been a chubby kid, and I was happy that way. I never tried to starve to look thin. Even in my teens, I’d happily grab a packet of chips. I’ve always been comfortable in my skin.”

When asked about insecurities, she reiterated that despite the weight gain after Jeh’s birth, she never let it affect her sense of self-worth.
