Kareena Kapoor reflects on husband Saif Ali Khan’s knife attacK

January 1, 2026: As the curtains drew on 2025, Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan took a moment to reflect on a year that tested her family’s resilience like never before.

In a deeply personal Instagram post shared on New Year’s Eve, the actress looked back at the trauma and triumphs of the past twelve months, specifically referencing the terrifying assassination attempt and robbery at their residence earlier this year.

A Year of Trial and Resilience

Kareena shared a candid photograph with husband Saif Ali Khan, acknowledging that the path to the end of 2025 was paved with immense difficulty.

“As we sit down and reflect on the fact that we made it to the last day of the year… we walked this far,” she wrote. “2025 has been a difficult year for us, our children, and our families… but we went through it head held high, laughing and holding on.”

The actress did not shy away from the emotional toll the year took on the Pataudi household, admitting, “We cried a lot, we prayed and now we are here.” She noted that the experience taught her that “human nature is fearless” and that “children are braver than we think.”

Flashback: The January 16 Horror

The “difficult year” Kareena referred to stems from a violent incident in the early hours of January 16, 2025. An intruder, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, broke into their Bandra residence with the intent to steal.

The confrontation turned bloody when Saif Ali Khan was attacked with a knife. The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition, where doctors discovered he was leaking spinal fluid. Following a grueling five-hour surgery—during which a piece of the knife was extracted from his body—Saif underwent spinal and plastic surgeries and spent several days in the ICU before being discharged on January 21.

Entering 2026 with ‘Renewed Fire’

Despite the scars of the past year, Kareena’s message was one of ultimate optimism. She expressed profound gratitude to the fans and friends who served as their support system during the crisis.

“We want to thank our fans, our friends, and everyone who stood by us… We are entering 2026 with a renewed fire in our bellies, immense gratitude, and positivity,” she stated. She concluded her note with her trademark spirit, “Like I always say, CHAR DI KALA (Eternal Optimism). Happy New Year everyone.”
