Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film follows Sergeant Jasmeet ‘Jass’ Bhamra (played by Kareena), a woman grappling with the tragic loss of her young son, Ekam (Mairaaj Kakkar). Her emotional journey takes a professional turn when she is tasked with investigating the disappearance of another boy, Ishpreet, who is around the same age as her late son. The story unravels as she navigates the complexities of grief while trying to solve the mystery.
In her portrayal of Jass, Kareena drew inspiration from Kate Winslet’s celebrated role as Detective Mare Sheehan in Mare of Easttown, as she mentioned in an interview with Variety. Kareena expressed her admiration for the show and noted that when director Hansal Mehta approached her, she was immediately excited about playing a similar role: a tough, emotionally complex cop.
The film also stars Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen in key roles, making it an ensemble effort. With its mix of emotional depth and thrilling mystery, The Buckingham Murders promises to be an intense ride for both cinema and streaming audiences.
