Karisma Kapoor Breaks Silence on Sunjay Kapur Estate Feud, Kareena Kapoor Reacts

Karisma Kapoor marked a serene Diwali with her children while a complex legal battle unfolds over her late ex-husband’s fortune. Kareena Kapoor Khan publicly hailed her sister’s resilience amid shocking court claims regarding the disputed Will.

October 23, 2025: Actress Karisma Kapoor celebrated a quiet, family-focused Diwali with her children, Samaira and Kiaan, choosing peace at home even as a high-profile legal dispute over her late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s enormous estate continues to escalate in court.

Karisma shared a poignant moment on social media, posting a photo dressed in a pastel pink ethnic outfit, lighting an earthen lamp with her children. She captioned the post simply with, “Positivity 💫”—a subtle reflection of her resilience amid personal tragedy and legal turmoil.

The actress’s sister, Kareena Kapoor Khan, was among the first to offer public support, commenting, “The strongest girl in the world my sister ❤️❤️ only positivity to you, my Sam and Kiu.” The heartfelt message from her family highlighted the emotional challenges Karisma faces, which have only intensified following the sudden death of Sunjay Kapur earlier this year.

Tragic Death Sparks Estate Feud

Businessman and industrialist Sunjay Kapur, the former husband of Karisma, tragically passed away at the age of 52 during a polo match in England. Reports suggest his death was caused by anaphylactic shock after reportedly swallowing a bee, leading to a fatal heart attack.

His demise has triggered a fierce legal contest over his assets, estimated to be worth Rs 30,000 crore (approximately $3.6 billion). The dispute pits Karisma’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, against Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, over the authenticity of his Will.

Contested Will and “Glaring Errors”

The legal battle centres on a Will dated March 21, 2025, which, according to reports, bequeaths 75% of the personal estate to Priya Sachdev Kapur, while Karisma’s children are left with a 25% share, a division they are challenging.

In a recent hearing at the Delhi High Court, Priya’s counsel, Rajiv Nayar, argued that the children’s challenge was “non-existent,” stating that a Will can only be contested if the deceased was of “unsound mind, under coercion, or incapable of executing it.”

However, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Karisma’s family, pointed out “glaring errors” in the document, calling its authenticity into question. Jethmalani highlighted the repeated use of feminine pronouns to refer to the deceased, remarking, “Sunjay Kapur has signed this Will as a woman. It is replete with feminine pronouns. Unless Sunjay was of unsound mind, he could never have signed this.” Other alleged inconsistencies include the misspelling of Kiaan’s name and the use of an incorrect address for Samaira.

The post by Karisma, though understated, served as a quiet testament to her focus on family and well-being as the high-stakes inheritance battle continues to unfold in the public eye.
