Young rappers from Kashmir sings about the positive changes in velley: ‘Badalta Kashmir’

The new song ‘Badalta Kashmir’ by the Kashmir-based rappers Humaira and MC Raa highlights the progress made in the Kashmir Valley following the repeal of Article 370. Rapper MC Raa commented, “This song has tried to explain whatever developments are taking place in Kashmir”. My inspiration came from the state of affairs in Srinagar and the current developments—the G20 was a success, or a smart city was developed. Hip-hop musicians get inspiration for their songs from their environment. I used to travel from Srinagar to Shopian, and whenever I saw a development along the way, I would think of writing a rap about Kashmir Valley.”

Government of India’s official Instagram page, has posted this song with the caption, “The youth of Kashmir have spoken, that too through an upbeat rap song! Take a listen to the song that perfectly captures #NayaKashmir’s rise.” Song depicts the Important occasions like the G20 summit in Kashmir, the Amarnath Yatra, and the growth of Digital India are also mentioned in the song.

“I thought there should be a female artist in this song because the biggest difference I have seen is that earlier girls were judged by their clothes, or how they carry themselves, but now that thing is no longer there,” MC Raa said, discussing his collaboration with Humaira on the song. I therefore considered carrying a female rapper with me.”
The song is praised by the former Indian cricket player Suresh Raina, who posted on his X account, “This Kashmiri artist showcased pro-level rapping—well done #JammuAndKashmir.” Along with sharing the song, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar penned “Naye Bharat Ka Naya Kashmir.” “Young Indians are transforming Kashmir’s terrain!”
