Set across global locations and packed with suspense, In Flight stars Katherine Kelly as a flight attendant drawn into a dangerous web of crime, corruption, and international smuggling to save her son.

London, June 25 – Channel 4 has released a gripping first look at In Flight, a high-stakes international thriller starring Katherine Kelly in a role that’s set to redefine the genre of airborne suspense. Best known for her role in Mr Bates vs the Post Office, Kelly takes center stage in this fast-paced series as Jo Conran — a single mother and flight attendant forced into a world of drug smuggling and deadly deception after her son is imprisoned abroad for a murder he claims he didn’t commit.

Plot & Character Details:
Written and co-created by Marcella’s Mike Walden and Slow Horses director Adam Randall, In Flight is a story of a woman pushed to the edge. Jo Conran, played by Kelly, is coerced into becoming a drug mule by Cormac (Stuart Martin) when her son Sonny (Harry Cadby) lands in a Bulgarian prison. Desperate to keep him alive, Jo reluctantly uses her job as a flight attendant to carry illicit cargo across borders.

As Jo is pulled deeper into the criminal underworld, she realizes she’s entangled in something far more dangerous than she imagined — a vast network of corruption, hired killers, and ruthless manipulators. She turns to her ex, Customs Officer Dom Delaney (Ashley Thomas), for help, navigating complex emotional terrain and international threats.

But Jo’s mission remains heartbreakingly clear: save her son, no matter the cost.

Supporting Cast & Production:
Joining Kelly is a strong supporting cast including Bronagh Waugh as Melanie, Corinna Brown as Kayla, and Ambreen Razia as Zara. The series is produced by Buccaneer Media and filmed across multiple global locations — including Bangkok, Istanbul, Bulgaria, and London — with key sequences shot in Belfast earlier this year, supported by Northern Ireland Screen.

Behind the Scenes:
In Flight is directed by Chris Baugh (Wreck, Tin Star) and produced by Brendan Mullin (Dalgliesh). Executive producers include Anna Burns, Tony Wood, and Richard Tulk-Hart for Buccaneer Media, along with Fremantle’s Rebecca Dundon and Simon Judd. Katherine Kelly, Walden, Randall, and Baugh also serve as executive producers. Fremantle will handle international distribution, with rights already secured by ProSieben (Germany), SBS (Australia), and TVNZ (New Zealand).

With its international backdrop, emotional depth, and pulse-pounding tension, In Flight is poised to be one of Channel 4’s most talked-about thrillers of the year. Katherine Kelly’s compelling transformation into a desperate mother-turned-smuggler promises to deliver not just action, but a powerful human story at the heart of global crime.
