Katy Perry Claps Back at Critics, Slams ‘Unhinged and Unhealed’ Haters Amid Blue Origin Flight and Tour Backlash

April 30, 2025: Katy Perry has spoken out with poise and perspective amid online criticism surrounding her recent Blue Origin space flight and her ongoing Lifetimes Tour. The 40-year-old pop icon addressed the backlash in a heartfelt Instagram comment posted on April 29, beneath a tribute video showing a fan-made billboard for her in New York City’s Times Square.

“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love,” Perry wrote. “I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed.”

The video, shared by fan accounts, featured a glowing message congratulating Perry on her tour’s opening week, signed off lovingly by her global fanbase, the Katy Cats. The message read: “We are so proud of you and your magical journey. And we love you to the moon and back!”

Perry responded with gratitude and introspection, assuring fans:

“Please know I am ok. I have done a lot of work around knowing who I am, what is real, and what is important to me.”

She shared a powerful insight from therapy that has helped her navigate public scrutiny:

“No one can make you believe something about yourself that you don’t already believe about yourself.”

The Grammy-nominated singer reflected on her connection with fans during live shows, writing, “I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that.” She also emphasized self-compassion, adding, “I’m not perfect and have omitted that word from my vocabulary.”

Concluding on a resilient note, Perry stated:

“I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS ♥️”

Perry was part of Blue Origin’s first all-female flight crew on April 14, alongside Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn. Though the historic flight lasted under 11 minutes, it drew mixed reactions online, with criticism largely centered on the cost and commercialization of space travel.

Still, Perry remains grounded in her message and mission — thanking her fans for standing by her and affirming that she’s more focused than ever on authenticity, connection, and growth.
