Katy Perry Joins Jeff Bezos’ Historic All-Female Crew For Space Mission, Says “Nothing Was Beyond My Imagination As A Child”

February 28, 2025: Blue Origin, the private aerospace company founded by Jeff Bezos, has announced the crew for its upcoming space mission, which will be historic as the first all-female crew to venture into space. The mission will feature a star-studded lineup, including CBS Morning co-anchor Gayle King, pop sensation Katy Perry, and Bezos’s fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, alongside other accomplished women in the field of space exploration.

Katy Perry took to her Instagram to express her excitement about being part of this monumental journey. She shared a heartfelt message, reflecting on her childhood dreams and how they have evolved into this incredible opportunity. Perry said, “If you had told me that I would be part of the first-ever all-female crew in space, I would have believed you. Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child. Although we didn’t grow up with much, I never stopped looking at the world with hopeful WONDER!”

Perry also added, “That’s why this opportunity is so incredible — so that I can show all of the youngest & most vulnerable among us to reach for the stars, literally and figuratively. I am honored to be among this diverse group of celestial sisters.” This sentiment highlights the mission’s significance not just as a scientific achievement, but also as an inspiration to future generations of women.

Lauren Sanchez, who played a pivotal role in assembling the crew, will serve as the leader of the mission. Sanchez has long been an advocate for space exploration and will lead the team on a journey that will challenge their perspectives of Earth and inspire millions.

The crew also includes former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, research scientist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. Each of these women brings a unique background and expertise to the mission, representing a diverse group of leaders from various fields.

This mission, which is Blue Origin’s 11th manned flight overall, is set to take place in the spring, though the exact date has yet to be determined. The crew will board Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft, which will travel to the Karman line—62 miles above Earth—widely recognized as the boundary between the Earth’s atmosphere and outer space.

Blue Origin has a history of partnering with high-profile individuals to showcase the capabilities of its spaceflights, and this all-female mission further emphasizes the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries and diversifying the face of space exploration.

This mission follows Jeff Bezos’s own historic flight aboard the New Shepard spacecraft in 2021, as well as the mission that included “Good Morning America” co-anchor Michael Strahan and 82-year-old aviator Wally Funk, who became the oldest person to ever fly in space.

The upcoming all-female space mission is a thrilling milestone in the growing space tourism industry, one that continues to inspire people to reach for the stars—both figuratively and literally.
