Kay Kay Menon Returns to the Underworld in New Series ‘Murshid’

After captivating audiences in Shekhar Home, actor Kay Kay Menon is back with a gripping new series, Murshid. Slated to premiere on August 30 on ZEE5, this intense gangster drama promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The newly released trailer dives deep into the dark underbelly of Mumbai’s underworld. Menon stars as Murshid Pathan, a retired don who is reluctantly pulled back into the world he thought he had left behind. The story unfolds when his former adversary, Farid, played by Zakir Hussain, entangles Murshid’s son in a dangerous plot. As Murshid struggles to protect his family and legacy, he finds himself being pursued by Inspector Kumar Pratap Rana, his adopted son, portrayed by Tanuj Virwani. Additionally, the ambitious politician Jayendra, played by Rajesh Shringarpure, manipulates events to serve his own interests.

Reflecting on his role, Kay Kay Menon shared, “Playing Murshid Pathan in this intense gangster thriller was truly exciting for me. I’ve always been drawn to complex characters, and Murshid is exactly that—a former don turned philanthropist, pulled back into the underworld to protect his family. The trailer just scratches the surface of his journey. It’s a relatable story of how far a father can go for the sake of his family.”

Zakir Hussain, who portrays the antagonist Farid, added, “This character is a powder keg of ambition and aggression, constantly pushing the boundaries of power in Mumbai’s underworld. What fascinates me about Farid is his complex psyche—a man desperate to eclipse Murshid’s legacy yet undone by his own volatile nature.”

Tanuj Virwani, who plays the conflicted Inspector Kumar Pratap Rana, said, “Being part of Murshid has been an incredible journey, especially sharing the screen with powerhouses like Kay Kay Menon and Zakir Hussain. Kumar’s world is turned upside down when he suspects Murshid’s involvement in his tragic past, yet his deep-rooted love for his adoptive father proves stronger than anything.”

With such a stellar cast and intense storyline, Murshid is set to be a must-watch for fans of the genre. Catch it on ZEE5 starting August 30.
