Kesari 2 Box Office Day 8: Produced at ₹150 Crores, Akshay's Film Crosses ₹75.35 Crore Worldwide Amid BOGO Boost
April 26, 2025: Mumbai:
Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, starring Akshay Kumar, has entered its second week with renewed momentum at the box office. Thanks to aggressive promotions like a Buy One Get One (BOGO) ticket offer, the film witnessed a 26% surge in earnings on its eighth day.
The historical drama, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, was released on April 18, 2025, and focuses on India’s legal battle against the British Raj following the tragic 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Despite a modest opening compared to Akshay Kumar’s previous blockbusters, the film has performed remarkably well overseas, especially in North America and Australia.

According to early estimates, Kesari 2 collected ₹4.42 crore net domestically on Friday (Day 8), up from ₹3.5 crore net on Thursday. This marks a 26.29% increase and takes the film’s eight-day total to ₹50.52 crore net in India.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that Kesari 2‘s international performance has surpassed Akshay’s last few releases. He also predicted a “healthy second weekend” owing to the absence of any major competition until May 1.
Film analyst Sumit Kadel attributed the Day 8 boost to the BOGO offer, estimating that the film could earn around ₹15 crore over the weekend.
Made with a budget of approximately ₹70 crore, Kesari Chapter 2 has crossed ₹75.35 crore gross worldwide in its first week, with ₹20.50 crore coming from overseas markets.
Produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape Of Good Films, the ensemble cast includes Ananya Pandey, R. Madhavan, Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, and Alexx O’Nell.
While the domestic collections are lower compared to Akshay Kumar’s previous film Sky Force, Kesari 2‘s steady rise suggests strong word-of-mouth support, especially among audiences seeking patriotic, courtroom-based narratives.
Based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the movie highlights the story of C. Sankaran Nair, India’s top barrister who challenged the British Raj over the Jallianwala Bagh massacre — a forgotten chapter of India’s freedom struggle.
