Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Day 3: Akshay Kumar’s Courtroom Drama Beats His 6 Post-COVID Films, Clocks ₹29.62 Cr Weekend
Mumbai, April 21, 2025 –
Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, a historical courtroom drama co-starring R Madhavan and Ananya Panday, has wrapped up its first weekend at the Indian box office with a healthy performance. The film showed strong word-of-mouth traction and consistent growth over the weekend, especially in key territories.
On Day 3 (Sunday), the film earned ₹11.70 crore net, translating to a gross of ₹13.80 crore, reflecting a solid 16% jump from its Day 2 earnings of ₹10.08 crore. Notably, Kesari Chapter 2 witnessed impressive 50% growth in regions like Nizam, Punjab, and West Bengal, indicating strong regional acceptance.
The film’s opening weekend total now stands at ₹29.62 crore net, making it the fifth-highest opening weekend of 2025 so far — behind Chhaava (₹121.43 crore), Sikandar (₹86.44 crore), Sky Force (₹73.20 crore), and Jaat (₹40.62 crore).
Kesari Chapter 2 has surpassed six of Akshay Kumar’s post-pandemic releases in opening weekend numbers. Here’s how it compares to his recent films:
This upward momentum marks a much-needed resurgence for the superstar, who has faced a string of underwhelming box office results post-COVID.
All eyes are now on the film’s Monday hold, which will be critical in determining whether Kesari Chapter 2 has the legs to continue a successful run through the weekdays. Trade analysts are hopeful that with sustained audience interest and lack of major new releases, the film may retain good momentum.
Note: Box office figures are based on estimates and various sources. Official numbers are yet to be confirmed.
