Kevin Smith’s ‘Dogma’ Returns to Theaters for 25th Anniversary With Nationwide Tour

The cult classic starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon hits cinemas on June 5; Kevin Smith to host screenings and Q&As across 25 U.S. cities ahead of rerelease.

Los Angeles, April 1: Kevin Smith’s beloved 1999 fantasy-comedy Dogma is making a divine return to theaters in honor of its 25th anniversary. The film, which stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as rebellious angels seeking a loophole back into heaven, will hit the big screen nationwide on June 5, 2025, thanks to a rerelease by Iconic Events.

As part of the anniversary celebration, Smith will embark on a 25-city U.S. tour starting April 20 — fittingly both Easter Sunday and 4/20 — kicking things off at The Grove in Los Angeles. Each stop on the tour will include special screenings of Dogma followed by live Q&A sessions with Smith himself.

“Bless me, Father — for I have cinema!” Smith said in a characteristically cheeky statement. “Praise the Lord and pass the popcorn for the second coming of Dogma! I can’t wait to take this film back on the road and share it with fans in theaters once again.”

Dogma, which also features Linda Fiorentino, Chris Rock, Jason Mewes, and Smith himself as Silent Bob, became a cult classic partly due to its long-standing absence from streaming platforms. Physical copies have been scarce, adding to its mystique over the years. The film remains the highest-grossing entry in Smith’s View Askewniverse, a cinematic world that also includes fan-favorites like Clerks and Mallrats.

Mark Rupp, CFO/COO and co-founder of Iconic Events Releasing, shared his excitement:

Dogma holds a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled that fans will once again get to see it the way it was meant to be experienced — on the big screen.”

The tour will visit cities including San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, and wrap at Smodcastle Cinemas — Smith’s own theater in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

Whether fans join the tour or catch the rerelease in June, Dogma is gearing up for a long-awaited second coming — one that promises laughter, nostalgia, and a little irreverent divinity.
