‘KGF Chapter 2’ Triumphs at 70th National Film Awards with Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction Wins

The 70th National Film Awards, celebrating the finest in Indian cinema for the year 2022, saw KGF Chapter 2 emerge as a major victor. Announced on Friday in the national capital, the awards recognized the film with accolades for Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction (Stunt Choreography).

Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF Chapter 2 clinched the Best Kannada Film award, celebrating its massive impact and acclaim in the Kannada film industry. The production house, Hombale Films LLP, also shared in the honor. The film’s exceptional action sequences were highlighted with the Best Action Direction award, won by Anbariv, the team behind the film’s thrilling stunt choreography.

The 70th National Film Awards jury, which included Rahul Rawail (Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury), Nila Madhab Panda (Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury), and Gangadhar Mudaliar (Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury), recognized KGF Chapter 2 for its outstanding contribution to cinema.

KGF Chapter 2, a sequel to the highly successful K.G.F: Chapter 1 released in 2018, continued the saga of the underdog-turned-gangster. The film features Yash in the lead role, with a supporting cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash, John Kokken, and Saran. The period action film, released on April 14, 2022, was notable for its intense narrative, stunning cinematography, and the iconic ‘Violence! Violence! Violence!’ dialogue that became a cultural touchstone.

The film’s wide release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, contributed to its pan-India appeal and success, making it the highest-grossing film of the year. KGF Chapter 2 was celebrated for its grand scale, gripping storyline, and high-octane action sequences, which captivated audiences across the country.

The 70th National Film Awards not only acknowledged KGF Chapter 2‘s excellence in Kannada cinema but also highlighted its innovative approach to action choreography, setting a new standard in the genre. The film’s achievements underscore its significant impact on Indian cinema and its continuing legacy.
