Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Sue Ray J for Defamation Over ‘Baseless’ Racketeering Claims

The mother-daughter duo is taking aggressive legal action against Kim’s ex, calling his claims of a looming federal indictment “blatantly false.” The lawsuit dismisses the racketeering allegations as a “malicious campaign” to exploit their names and revive the singer’s fading notoriety.

October 3, 2025: Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have filed a defamation lawsuit against the reality star’s ex-boyfriend, Ray J, in an aggressive pushback against his public claims that they are facing a federal racketeering indictment.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, accuses Ray J (legal name Ray Norwood Jr.) of a “sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” and claims his statements are “entirely baseless.”

The suit highlights two recent public statements by the singer, who is best known for his early relationship with Kardashian and their leaked 2007 sex tape:

• May 2025: During a TV special, Ray J suggested “racketeering charges against the Kardashians would be appropriate” and that he “might believe” such an allegation.
• September 30, 2025: In a livestream viewed by millions, Ray J claimed to be working with federal investigators on a RICO case, telling viewers, “The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy” and that “the feds is coming.” He went on to assert the case would be “worse than Diddy.”

Kardashian and Jenner deny the claims, stating in the filing, “No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.”

Their attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that the women were forced to take legal action due to the “false and serious” nature of the claims, which have caused them reputational and financial damage.

The lawsuit argues that Ray J’s ongoing harassment is driven by his “inability to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over twenty years ago,” suggesting he is seeking to “exploit their prominence for personal gain” and revive his “fading notoriety.”

A representative for Ray J did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
