King Charles Reflects On ‘Hope’ And ‘Love’ In Easter Message Amid Cancer Treatment

April 17, 2025: King Charles, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, issued a heartfelt Easter message on Thursday, just before he and his wife, Queen Camilla, attended a traditional royal event. The statement focused on the enduring virtues of faith, hope, and love, with a special emphasis on love as the most powerful force across religions and cultures.

In his message, the King highlighted the tireless work of humanitarians worldwide, acknowledging that their efforts transcend boundaries of religion, background, and faith. “There are three virtues that the world still needs: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love,” King Charles wrote, spreading a universal message of compassion and care for one another.

He also shared a poignant reflection on humanity’s capacity for both cruelty and kindness, noting how “terrible images of human suffering” are often juxtaposed with “heroic acts in war-torn countries where humanitarians of every kind risk their own lives to protect the lives of others.” The King expressed deep admiration for the resilience, courage, and compassion shown by those working in humanitarian fields.

Furthermore, Charles spoke about the love of Jesus, which he said “reflected the Jewish ethic of caring for the stranger and those in need.” This, he added, is a deep human instinct shared not only in Christianity but also in Islam and other religious traditions, as well as in the hearts of all those who seek the good of others.

King Charles is expected to lead other members of the royal family at the Easter Sunday services at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on April 20.
