Kingdom X Review: Vijay Deverakonda’s Film Faces Mixed Reactions

Vijay Deverakonda’s latest, “Kingdom,” receives a lukewarm reception from audiences and critics. Early viewers call the highly anticipated film “average,” sparking mixed reviews.

July 31, 2025: The long-awaited movie “Kingdom” by Vijay Deverakonda finally came released in theaters on Thursday, July 31, 2025, after months of huge hype and publicity. The response at the box office was highly mixed. A lot of the actor’s fans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana stood in line for early morning shows, but a lot of them were let down when they left the theaters. A lot of them said the movie was “average.”

The trailer for “Kingdom” promised to show Vijay Deverakonda in a way that had never been seen before, and it looked like it would be a brutal, action-packed drama. In the movie, Deverakonda is a cop who goes undercover to do a perilous job. He goes to Sri Lanka, where he meets his brother, Siva (played by Satyadev). The major story is about him trying to get back together with his brother and fulfill his aim, which is packed of action and bloodshed.

A lot of Vijay Deverakonda’s fans showed up at first, especially in his home states, but many of them went on social media to say they were upset.

“I thought #kingdom was okay, but it didn’t do it for me.” “VD was good but didn’t feel that crazily diff from stuff he’s done before but still great presence and effort (sic),” one user remarked on X (formerly Twitter).

A lot of people who saw the movie early on remarked that the first half was more engaging and exciting than the second half and the climax. Some people loved Deverakonda’s acting and Anirudh Ravichander’s background music, but others believed the tale was too predictable and lost its grip.

In “Kingdom,” Bhagyashree Borse portrays the part of a woman. A lot of people talked about how well she and Vijay Deverakonda got along before the movie came out. But critics and audiences have suggested that “Kingdom” may not be able to measure up to the high standards set by its ads before it came out.
