May 5, 2025: Cricketer KL Rahul has opened up about the story behind his newborn daughter’s unique name, Evaarah, revealing that the name was a spontaneous discovery that instantly resonated with him—but required a little persuasion for his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, to agree.
Speaking at a recent event, Rahul shared,
“It was a name that I just stumbled upon. We did go through a couple of name books that were sent by some close friends. Then I googled Evaarah and checked what the meaning is. I loved it from the moment I saw it.”
However, the naming wasn’t immediate.
“It took me a little time to convince Athiya. But her parents and my parents loved it. Then she slowly fell in love with that name,” he added.
Athiya and Rahul, who tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala in January 2023, welcomed their daughter in March 2025. They shared the first picture of baby Evaarah on Rahul’s birthday last month, marking a beautiful personal milestone.
Even Suniel Shetty, now a proud grandfather, expressed his joy in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, writing:
“Becoming a grandfather recently is a feeling I can’t even describe… It’s a happiness that’s pure and untouched by anything the world can give or take away.”

Meanwhile, Rahul continues to lead from the front for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, with 371 runs in nine matches. Despite some inconsistency—such as a slow 41 off 39 balls against RCB and a run-out for 7 versus KKR—he remains the franchise’s top scorer this season.
