KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along Version Set to Stream on Netflix After Historic Box Office Run

The hit animated film’s sing-along version grossed nearly $20 million in one weekend, with fans filling theaters across the U.S. and Canada.

Los Angeles [US], August 25: KPop Demon Hunters fever is far from over. After an electrifying theatrical debut of its sing-along version, Netflix has announced that fans will soon be able to stream it from the comfort of their homes. The KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along officially arrives on Netflix on Monday, giving global audiences a chance to join in on the film’s chart-topping music.

The special edition made waves over the August 22–24 weekend, pulling in between $18–20 million at the U.S. box office and selling out more than 1,300 screenings across the U.S. and Canada. The overwhelming response proved that the movie, already a Netflix phenomenon, has cemented its place as a pop culture milestone.

The weekend celebrations were nothing short of magical. Voice cast members Arden Cho, May Hong, Ken Jeong, along with vocalists Rei Ami and Kevin Woo, directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and producer Michelle L.M. Wong, surprised fans by making appearances at screenings in New York and Los Angeles. Adding to the grandeur, the Empire State Building lit up in gold—a dazzling tribute in partnership with Netflix, CAPE (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment), and iHeartMedia.

The excitement had already been building earlier in the week when Netflix hosted a preview of the sing-along version. At the event, singer-songwriter EJAE, the powerhouse voice behind lead character Rumi’s songs, moved the crowd with her words. “I’m speechless. This has all been insane. I’ve been crying a lot,” she said emotionally.

EJAE, 33, co-wrote the film’s breakout anthem “Golden”, which not only stole fans’ hearts but also made music history by topping the Billboard Hot 100. The achievement marked the first time a female group had reached No. 1 since Destiny’s Child in 2001—a milestone that has made KPop Demon Hunters both a cinematic and musical triumph.

As the film transitions from its golden theatrical run to Netflix streaming, the sing-along version promises to bring the same euphoric experience into living rooms around the world. Fans can now relive the music, the magic, and the movement that’s redefining animated storytelling.
