
Kristen Stewart Open To Directing Twilight Remake
Actor Turned Director Says She Would Love To Reimagine The Franchise
January 6, 2026: Kristen Stewart has said she would be happy to direct a Twilight remake. Speaking at a Variety event in Palm Springs the actor turned director praised the original filmmakers and said she would love to readapt the franchise with fresh support and a bigger creative canvas.
Stewart rose to fame playing Bella Swan in the Twilight films released between 2008 and 2012. She said the movies were unique to their time and imagined how a remake could feel with greater resources and renewed vision while expressing admiration for directors Catherine Hardwicke Chris Weitz and others.
The Chronology of Water marks Stewarts directorial debut. She said directing was a long held dream after years of acting and learning on sets. Stewart added that watching Hardwicke handle creative pressure during Twilight shaped her understanding of filmmaking.
