KRK’s Weapon Licence To Revoke This Month?

Self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK) is under fresh legal scrutiny as Mumbai Police have initiated the process to revoke his arms license. This development follows his arrest on January 19, 2026, in connection with a firing incident in the Oshiwara area.

Reports on February 16, 2026, indicate that the Versova Police have forwarded the necessary documentation to the Police Commissioner’s office. Sources suggest the license for his 7.76 mm German-made Mauser pistol is likely to be officially cancelled within the month.

The Incident: “Cleaning Gone Wrong?”

The legal trouble stems from an event on January 18, 2026, when two bullets struck the Nalanda Society in Andheri, hitting the 2nd and 4th floors.

• KRK’s Defense: During interrogation, KRK admitted to discharging the weapon but claimed it was accidental. He stated he was cleaning and testing the gun and aimed at a nearby mangrove area, but “strong winds” caused the bullets to deviate toward the residential building.
• The Weapon: KRK has held this license for 22 years (since 2005), originally obtained in Uttar Pradesh before being transferred to Mumbai.

Current Legal Status

• Arrest & Bail: After his arrest, KRK was sent to judicial custody but was later granted bail on a personal bond of ₹25,000.
• Legal Argument: His lawyer, Sana Raees Khan, challenged the arrest’s validity, arguing that mandatory notices under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, were not served.
• Missing Ammo: Police are also reportedly investigating the whereabouts of seven missing bullets out of the 30 he had declared.
