Kunal Kamra Rejects Bigg Boss Offer: “I’d Rather Check Into a Mental Hospital”

Comedian Kunal Kamra turns down Bigg Boss casting offer, takes a dig at reality TV and shares sharp reply on Instagram amid ongoing legal and personal turmoil

April 9, 2025: Kunal Kamra has never been one to hold back his opinions — and his latest response to a reality show offer proves it once again.

The stand-up comedian revealed via Instagram Stories that he had been approached to join the upcoming season of Salman Khan-hosted Bigg Boss, but he firmly declined the offer — and not without a stinging punchline.

Kamra shared a screenshot of a message from a person claiming to be a casting agent for the show. The message read:

“I am handling the casting for this season of Bigg Boss and your name came up as someone they might find interesting… It’s such a mad platform to show your real vibe and win over a massive audience.”

Kunal’s blunt reply?

“I would much rather check into a mental hospital…”
He shared the post with Salman Khan’s “Radhe” song playing in the background, adding extra sting to the sarcasm.

It remains unclear whether Kamra was being considered for Bigg Boss OTT or the upcoming Bigg Boss Season 19.

Amidst Controversy

This comes at a time when Kunal Kamra is embroiled in controversy over comments made about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a stand-up set in Mumbai. The remarks led to police summons, an FIR for alleged defamation and “public mischief,” and a torrent of over 500 death threats, prompting Kamra to temporarily relocate to Tamil Nadu.

Kamra has since approached the Madras High Court and secured interim protection from arrest.

BookMyShow Clash

Adding to the storm, Kunal recently clashed with BookMyShow, accusing the platform of unfairly delisting his shows. He issued a public plea for clarity, to which the platform responded by claiming “facts have been misrepresented.”
