Kunal Kemmu Recalls Saif Ali Khan's Stabbing Attack: 'The Most Important Thing Was His Safety'

February 22, 2025: Actor Kunal Kemmu recently opened up about the traumatic attack on his brother-in-law, Saif Ali Khan, which occurred at Saif’s Bandra residence. The violent incident took place last month when Saif was attacked by an intruder, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who allegedly broke into the house intending to commit theft. During the altercation, Saif was stabbed in the thoracic spine and other areas, prompting an immediate rush to Lilavati Hospital for treatment.

Kunal recalled the early morning call he received about the attack, where the first thing on his mind was ensuring Saif’s safety. "The most important thing was: is Saif okay?" Kunal said. "Once we knew he was out of danger, the rest didn’t matter. That was the only thing that mattered."

He described how the news impacted him personally, especially the challenge of having to break the news to his wife, Soha Ali Khan, while they were getting their daughter ready for school. Kunal said, "It was very strange. I had to break this to her, and we were just in the process of getting our daughter ready for school. All of those things were playing on my mind — should we send her to school, should we go to the hospital?"

Despite the initial shock, Kunal shared how the family quickly shifted focus on Saif's recovery and well-being. "After that, the number one prayer from everyone was for him to be fine," Kunal added. "Once we knew he was stable, we were able to breathe a sigh of relief."

Saif was discharged from the hospital after undergoing surgery on January 21 and briefly addressed the media at his residence. Kunal praised Saif for handling the situation with strength, noting that Saif had spoken publicly about the attack and provided clear answers to all the questions surrounding it.

Addressing the fear and emotional toll after such an incident, Kunal said, “It’s very weird how fear works. It’s not easy to tackle it. You have to make a conscious effort to move past it.” Despite the unsettling experience, Kunal remains grateful for his family's health and safety, and stressed that once Saif was out of immediate danger, all that mattered was his recovery.

Kunal Kemmu, known for his work in films like Raja Hindustani, Kalyug, Golmaal 3, and Lootcase, was last seen in Madgaon Express.
