L2 Empuraan Box Office Day 14: Mohanlal’s Action Sequel Slows Down, Earns ₹1.15 Cr

After a powerful start, L2 Empuraan shows signs of fatigue in its second week with dipping earnings; the film’s domestic total now stands at ₹102.35 crore.

New Delhi, April 11 – After a strong start at the box office, Mohanlal’s high-octane action thriller L2 Empuraan appears to be losing steam. On Day 14, the film collected just ₹1.15 crore, marking its lowest single-day earnings so far, according to Sacnilk.

Released on March 27, the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial has now earned a domestic total of ₹102.35 crore. While still a major commercial success, the second-week slowdown reflects waning momentum after an impressive first week.

The film recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 13.77% on April 9, further suggesting a dip in audience turnout as the buzz begins to settle.

About the Film

L2: Empuraan is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer and the second installment in a planned trilogy. It stars Mohanlal in the iconic role of Khureshi Ab’raam, with Prithviraj Sukumaran reprising his role as Zayed Masood.

The film also boasts a stellar ensemble including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

Produced under banners Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions, L2 Empuraan is one of the biggest Malayalam releases of 2025.

Mohanlal on Working with Prithviraj

Speaking to PTI, Mohanlal praised Prithviraj’s evolution as a director:

“He knows what he’s doing… He is totally into the film. This is a trilogy, and the next chapter will take some time. The action in this one is very different.”

What’s Next?

While the film has crossed the ₹100 crore milestone, its continued performance will now depend on weekend footfall, word-of-mouth, and competition from recent releases like Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Salman Khan’s Sikandar.
