L2: Empuraan Box Office Day 26 – Just ₹4.23 Cr Behind Manjummel Boys, But Will Slide in Collections Deter it?

Despite crossing ₹100 crore in its first week, Mohanlal’s ₹180 crore epic L2: Empuraan sees major decline with only ₹14 lakh on Day 26, narrowing chances of breaking all-time Mollywood record.

April 23, 2025: L2: Empuraan Box Office Collection Day 26: Slipping Momentum as Film Trails Manjummel Boys by ₹4.23 Crores

After a thunderous start and historic first-week earnings, Mohanlal’s big-budget Malayalam action thriller L2: Empuraan is now showing clear signs of slowing down at the box office. On Day 26, the film earned just ₹14 lakh, marking a steep 55% drop from last Friday’s ₹31 lakh.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan became the most expensive film in Mollywood history with a staggering budget of ₹180 crore. It created a storm early on, entering the ₹100 crore club within its debut week—a first for Malayalam cinema. However, the film’s momentum took a hit in Week 2 with an 83% drop in collections, earning only ₹17.05 crore during that span.

As of Day 26, Empuraan has netted ₹106.3 crore (all languages combined), with gross collections touching ₹124.07 crore. The film is now just ₹4.23 crore behind Manjummel Boys, the current all-time highest Mollywood grosser in India. However, with footfalls shrinking rapidly, surpassing that benchmark is looking increasingly unlikely.

Empuraan was expected to rewrite box office records, and while it still holds several milestones, the latest trends suggest the film may fall just short of claiming the top spot in Malayalam cinema history.
