LA Wildfires: Mandy Moore's Family Sheltered By Hilary Duff

January 15, 2025: Mandy Moore and her family are finding support in the kindness of friends following the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, which destroyed their home. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moore, her husband Taylor Goldsmith, and their loved ones sought refuge with Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma, who opened their home to them.

Moore’s brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, expressed deep gratitude on social media for the support they’ve received from Duff and Koma. He revealed that both of his own homes were affected by the fires as well, leaving him and his wife displaced just as they were preparing for the birth of their first child. Goldsmith shared his appreciation, writing, “Our dear friends @matthewkoma and @hilaryduff thought it wise to set up a GoFundMe for us... They’ve taken care of my entire family from the moment this began. I will never be able to thank them adequately."

Despite the immense support, Moore faced criticism online for sharing the GoFundMe link, with some questioning her lack of personal contribution. Moore responded with frustration, defending her actions by stating, "People questioning whether we're helping out our own family... is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course, we are. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything."

Moore has also shared updates on the destruction caused by the fires on social media, revealing the extent of the damage to her neighborhood in Altadena, California. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss, writing, "I am devastated and gutted for those of us who've lost so much. I'm absolutely numb."

Although the main structure of her home still stands, it is uninhabitable, and Moore mentioned that her entire street had been destroyed. She also shared her feelings of "survivor’s guilt" and vowed to support the community in the rebuilding efforts.

The wildfires, particularly the Eaton Fire, have caused significant destruction across the LA area, and the county remains under a "particularly dangerous situation" red flag warning from the National Weather Service. Meanwhile, a new fire, the Auto Fire, broke out in Ventura, burning more than 50 acres.
