Lady Gaga Shines at Coachella Despite Mic Glitch, Proves Why She’s a True Live Performer

The pop icon handled technical difficulties like a pro during her “Mayhem” showcase, captivating Coachella’s weekend two crowd with authenticity and power

Indio, California, April 19: Lady Gaga once again proved why she’s one of the world’s premier live performers, effortlessly overcoming a mic malfunction during her headline set at Coachella’s second weekend on Friday night.

While performing her second number, “Abracadabra,” during her dazzling “Mayhem” showcase, Gaga’s head mic began glitching and abruptly cut off. Without skipping a beat or breaking from her choreography, she subtly swapped it for a handheld mic — all while dancing with a cane in her other hand.

Within minutes, a fully functional head mic was in place, and the show continued without further issues.

Later, while seated at her piano, Gaga addressed the glitch with grace and wit:

“I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second… at least you know I sing live,” she said to cheers. “All we can do is our best — and I’m certainly giving you mine tonight.”

According to Variety’s Chris Willman, Gaga’s commitment to live vocals set her apart at the festival:

“You could pretty much anticipate that Gaga would not be miming… it was still a pleasure to hear her lightly panting into the mic now and again, as if we needed proof she was delivering the goods al fresco.”

Creative direction for the performance was led in part by acclaimed choreographer Parris Goebel, with the weekend two show retaining much of the spectacle from her weekend one set — explosive visuals, tightly executed dance breaks, and Gaga’s signature theatrical flair.

The “Mayhem” tour will now head across the globe, kicking off in July with dates in North America, Europe, the U.K., Mexico, Brazil, and Singapore.

Despite the early hiccup, Lady Gaga turned a moment of technical difficulty into a showcase of professionalism and vocal power — reminding fans why she’s still the reigning queen of pop spectacle.
