Lauren Southern Accuses Andrew Tate of Assault in Memoir Bombshell

July 17, 2025: Canadian YouTuber and former far-right commentator Lauren Southern has come forward with explosive allegations against British-American influencer Andrew Tate. In her new memoir This Is Not Real Life and an accompanying Substack post, Southern alleges that Tate sexually assaulted and strangled her in a Romanian hotel room in 2018.

According to Southern, the incident occurred during a trip to Romania with British activist Tommy Robinson, where they met with the Tate brothers to discuss a potential media venture. Southern recounts that after a dinner and nightclub outing, she became heavily intoxicated despite consuming only minimal alcohol. She says Tate drove her back to her hotel and carried her to her room, where he requested to sleep beside her.

“I said yes. I was incredibly intoxicated,” she writes. Southern says what followed was an uninvited kiss and a series of assaults after she clearly refused further advances. “He put his arm around my neck and began strangling me unconscious… He repeatedly strangled me every time I regained consciousness.”

Southern says she didn’t immediately go to police, fearing backlash due to her former anti-feminist persona. She later approached UK authorities, who informed her that the case would need to be handled in Romania. She also sought a medical examination about a week after the incident.

The revelation adds to Andrew Tate’s mounting legal troubles. He currently faces 10 criminal charges in the UK—including rape and assault—and is under investigation in Romania alongside his brother Tristan for human trafficking and other crimes. Both have denied all previous allegations. Tate has not responded publicly to Southern’s claims, and his legal team has yet to comment. Southern concludes her story with a powerful statement: “This wasn’t a case of mixed signals. I fought back. I was pleading.”
