The Grammy-winning rapper updates fans from the hospital, jokes about his condition, and assures everyone he’s doing fine despite losing movement on the right side of his face
Los Angeles [US], April 15: Rapper and pop icon Lil Nas X has revealed that he’s dealing with a mysterious case of partial facial paralysis, surprising fans with a candid and humorous update from his hospital bed.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the 26-year-old shared a series of videos in which he attempts to smile—but only one side of his face responds.
“This is me doing a full smile right now by the way,” he quipped. “It’s like, what the f**k? I can’t even laugh right bro.”
In another clip on his Instagram Stories, the “Montero” hitmaker zooms in on the unaffected side of his face saying, “We normal over here,” before panning to the other side and joking, “We get crazy over here.”
Despite the unsettling condition, Lil Nas X kept his spirits high and urged fans not to worry:
“Stop being sad for me! Shake ur a** for me instead! Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
His fans quickly flooded the comments with love and well-wishes. “I love how positive you are, but get better soon,” one fan wrote. Another added, “You’re still a king. Heal fast!”
While the rapper didn’t reveal a specific diagnosis, partial facial paralysis can be caused by a range of issues, from viral infections like Bell’s Palsy and Ramsay Hunt Syndrome to nerve damage.
Notably, Justin Bieber had a similar experience in 2022 when he postponed his tour due to Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which left half of his face temporarily paralyzed.
Lil Nas X’s humor and resilience in the face of adversity once again show why he remains a fan favorite—not just for his music, but for his candid connection with his audience.
