“Lightning Might Strike Twice”—Disney Drops First Trailer for ‘Freakier Friday’

A multi-generational twist shakes up the highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 classic

📍 Los Angeles, March 15: After 22 years, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back for another body-swapping adventure in Disney’s long-awaited sequel to Freaky Friday. The first official trailer for Freakier Friday dropped—appropriately—on a Friday, revealing a multigenerational twist that takes the classic switcheroo to a whole new level.

The film is set to hit theaters on August 8, 2025, marking Lohan’s big return to the big screen.

🔹 A New Kind of Swap: It’s Not Just Anna and Tess This Time

📢 “Years after Tess and Anna endured an identity crisis, they discover that lightning might strike twice.”

The trailer teases another dramatic mother-daughter switch, but this time, things are even more chaotic—because Anna now has a daughter (Julia Butters) and a soon-to-be stepdaughter (Sophia Hammons). When lightning literally strikes again, a four-way body swap ensues, bringing even more comedy, confusion, and heartwarming moments.

🔹 The Legacy of ‘Freaky Friday’

The original 2003 film—itself a remake of the 1976 classic starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris—was a box office success and remains a fan favorite, holding an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The sequel also marks the return of Anna’s fictional rock band, Pink Slip, with brand-new music teased by Lindsay Lohan last year.
