Live India Updates: Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez Set to Say I Do in Lavish Venetian Ceremony Today
Venice, June 27, 2025 — Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, are all set to tie the knot today at an ultra-luxurious, black-tie wedding on the private island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Venice. The ceremony marks the highlight of a three-day celebration, already buzzing with celebrity appearances, opulent settings, and controversy.
The couple—Bezos, 61, and Sanchez, 55—have taken over the Aman Hotel, a grand 16th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, as their Venetian base. They will reportedly exchange vows in a scenic open-air amphitheatre on the island, facing the iconic St. Mark’s Square.
The celebration kicked off Thursday with a luncheon at Villa Baslini and a flurry of high-profile arrivals by boat. Guests snapped by paparazzi included Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Orlando Bloom, Queen Rania of Jordan, Tom Brady, Usher, Ivanka Trump, and designer Spencer Antle. Reports suggest that Italian couturier Domenico Dolce (of Dolce & Gabbana) may be behind one or more of Sanchez’s reported 27 wedding looks.
Adding a musical crescendo, the newlyweds will be serenaded by Matteo Bocelli, son of legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli, after the ceremony.
Guests are also receiving curated Venetian party favors including handblown Murano glass keepsakes by Laguna B, and traditional fishermen’s biscuits by Rosa Salva, the city’s oldest pastry house.
To give back, Bezos and Sanchez have reportedly donated €3 million to support Venice and are working with local artisans for the celebrations—an effort praised by regional officials.
Yet, while the wedding has enchanted fashionistas and paparazzi, critics have voiced concern. Locals and environmentalists argue that Venice—already overwhelmed by mass tourism—is being treated like a private playground for billionaires. Reports confirm that at least 95 private jets requested permission to land at Marco Polo Airport for the event, sparking criticism over the carbon footprint left behind by the opulent gathering.

Meanwhile, the city’s artisans are embracing the global spotlight. One Murano glassmaker described Ivanka Trump’s family visit to their workshop as “enchanted by the magic of glass,” even trying their hand at glassblowing.
The celebrations are set to culminate Saturday with a final party at Venice’s historic Arsenale, once a mighty naval shipyard.
