Love Is Blind’s Matt and Colleen Split After Nearly Four Years of Marriage
It’s the end of the road for Love Is Blind couple Matt Bolton and Colleen Reed. The pair, who tied the knot in season 3 of the Netflix reality series, announced on Friday, May 23, that they’ve decided to end their marriage.
In a heartfelt joint statement posted on Instagram, Matt and Colleen shared, “We wanted to share something personal, and this is not easy to do, but after nearly four years together, we’ve decided to end our marriage and move forward on our own paths. We’ve been separated for some time now and have been doing our best to work through everything privately and with care.”
They added, “This was an incredibly difficult decision, not one we made lightly. It came with a lot of thought and it’s been an emotional process for both of us. We met in the most unique and unexpected way, and we’ll always be grateful for the love and memories we’ve shared. There’s not one thing we would change and we continue to have deep respect and care for one another.”
The statement ended with a thank you to everyone who supported them, and a request for “compassion as we navigate this transition.”
Matt and Colleen’s journey began in the pods during Love Is Blind season 3, where Matt proposed and Colleen tearfully accepted. Despite an instant spark, their relationship had its challenges once they met in person. Disagreements over Colleen’s desire to go out with friends and her interactions with fellow cast member Cole Barnett sparked some friction.
Nevertheless, the couple said “I do” in the season 3 finale, joining Alexa and Brennon Lemieux as one of two couples to wed that season. Shortly after the season premiered, Matt spoke to PEOPLE about the hurdles they faced, admitting he was partly “looking for an out” before ultimately realizing their potential.
“At the end of the day, I saw so much potential. When I saw her walking down the aisle, I thought, ‘We’ve got too much potential. This is a great moment. We are meant for each other,’” Matt said in November 2022.
Despite confirming they were still married at the season 3 reunion, social media speculation about their future continued, especially after some fans noted Colleen appeared visibly uncomfortable during the reunion. She later clarified to Cosmopolitan that she had been battling anxiety and negativity from online commentary during that time.
The couple also raised eyebrows by initially living apart after their wedding. In 2023, Colleen addressed the topic on Deepti Vempati and Natalie Lee’s Out of the Pods podcast, explaining they were taking their time to adjust to married life before moving in together.
“It takes a while,” she said at the time. “We didn’t want to rush that just because people were watching.”
They eventually moved in together in June 2023 and celebrated their three-year anniversary in July 2024. Now, as they officially part ways, Matt and Colleen are focused on moving forward while maintaining mutual respect and gratitude for their journey together.
