Loveyapa’s Theatrical Likely to End Run at Rs 12 Crore Gross – Declared A Box Office Flop

Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s romantic drama struggled at the box office but managed to recover costs through non-theatrical deals.

February 19, 2025: Loveyapa Ends Theatrical Run with Rs 12 Crore Gross – A Box Office Flop but Financially Secure

Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s Loveyapa, directed by Advait Chandan, is nearing the end of its theatrical journey, wrapping up with a modest worldwide gross of Rs 12 crore. The modern romantic drama struggled at the box office from the outset, failing to gain momentum due to mixed word-of-mouth and the stigma of being a remake.

A Lackluster Box Office Performance

Co-produced by Phantom Films, Loveyapa opened to a lukewarm response and never managed to pick up steam. Audience reluctance towards remakes added to its struggles, making it difficult for the film to sustain at the box office.

The film’s final worldwide gross is expected to be around Rs 12 crore, with Rs 10 crore (Rs 8.25 crore net) coming from the Indian market and an additional Rs 2 crore from overseas collections.

A Box Office Flop, But a Financially Safe Venture

Despite its underwhelming box office numbers, Loveyapa did not result in financial losses for its makers. Thanks to lucrative non-theatrical deals, including music, OTT, and satellite rights, the film managed to recover its production costs.

Promotions Fell Flat

One of the key reasons for Loveyapa’s failure was its inability to generate buzz. The teaser, trailer, and songs failed to resonate with audiences, limiting its reach. Initially overshadowed by the buzz surrounding Badass Ravi Kumar, Loveyapa eventually gained some traction but remained underwhelming overall.

While its theatrical run may be ending on a disappointing note, the film’s safe financial strategy ensured that it didn’t turn into a major loss-making venture.
